New European Bauhaus Festival 2026: CLT Walking Tour & Networking

As part of the New European Bauhaus Festival 2026, we hosted a Satellite Event: a guided walking tour of several Community Land Trust Brussels projects in the Molenbeek neighbourhood, followed by a relaxed networking event with our members as well as external participants: researchers from TU Delft, representatives from the European Commission’s Affordable Housing Task Force, the German Sustainable Building Council, SOLIDAR and Social Economy Europe.

Key Highlights

  • Hearing directly from Community Land Trust Brussels residents during the walking tour of local CLT projects was a powerful reminder that community land trusts are about much more than housing. They are about people and communities reclaiming their right to land, securing affordable and stable homes, and building something lasting together.

  • Learning about the growing European CLT movement, which now brings together 18 member organisations across 10 countries and 25,500 homes in development.

  • Welcoming new members to the network, including Fondazione CLT - Terreno Comune (Italy), La Dinamo Fundació, Custòdia (Spain), and Cork Community Land Trust (Ireland)

Geert De Pauw and Dali Malnoury (Community Land Trust Brussels) led the walking tour of Brussels CLT’s, grounding the participants in proven community-led housing projects before convening at Belmundo. We were warmly welcomed by residents along the way and lucky to hear their stories.

At L’Indépendance we we’re welcomed by one of the residents that openly shared her experience: “It is a little bit like back home in Africa here, we are like a big family helping each other.” ©ECLTN
